How to address an envelope: format and writing In an age where we’re being taught how to compose electronic communication such as email, SMS or Skype, the art of addressing envelopes is being lost. Whilst writing letters is far from a forgotten skill, anyone inexperienced in envelope formatting may run into some issues.
Writing the address on a letter or an envelope is an everyday practice that can sometimes become quite complicated. In this article, we'll explain, step-by-step, how to write the address of the person we want to send the envelope or package to.
The name and address go on the bottom left corner of the front of the envelope or parcel. Use a clear and easy to read hand writing (or font if you are printing the address). Use a pen or ink that is clear against the colour of the envelope or parcel. Left align the text (no centred or 'stepped' lines).
How to address mail. Make sure your post gets exactly where it needs to go. When posting something to someone in the UK, write the address like this: Addressees' name. House number and street name. Locality name (if needed) Town (please print in capitals) Full postcode (please print in capitals).
Addressing your envelope. Left align the name and address of the recipient. Use neat handwriting that is easily readable or if printing the address, use a clear easy to read font (Avoid fancy fonts) Make sure the colour of the address you use is clear. E.g black text on a white envelope, white text on a dark coloured envelope.
Writing an address with proper punctuation on a traditional envelope can be accomplished by completing the steps below: Write the recipient’s name on the first line. Write the street address or post office box number on the second line. Write the city, state, and ZIP code on the third.
Put the first line of their address underneath. Insert the street name. The local area should be on the next line Place the city or Island should be on the next line.
Include the sender's address. In the event that the letter cannot be delivered, it is important to write the address of the sender so it can be returned to the correct address. Write the complete address of the sender on the back of the envelope (on the flap) or on the front in the top left-hand corner. This is compulsory for registered mail.
To print the envelope, insert an envelope in the printer as shown in the Feed box on the Printing Options tab in the Envelope Options dialog box, click Add to Document, and then click Print. Note: If you want to print the envelope without printing the rest of the document, enter Page 1 in the Print dialog box.
Your letters will only get delivered if you write the address correctly on the envelope. The location of the addresses and postage stamps on German letters are the same as in North America and the rest of Europe. The address of the recipient goes in the middle. The return address goes in the top left and the postage stamp in the top right.
Write the return address in small letters on one line in the top left-hand corner or on the back of the envelope. If you want to put the name of a person or business, put this at the top (on the top line) The stamp goes into the top right-hand corner. Write the address in this order. Receiver (person or business) Delivery address.

You can write the return address on the back of the envelope if you want to prevent any confusion when it arrives in the Japanese post office, and of course to return the letter if it becomes unsuccessful.
